Have you ever thought how silly the news sounds these days? They give you 25% of the weather then have the nerve to tell us that we have to wait to find out the rest.
Seriously?!
Gone are those days where you didn't have much choice. You either had to wait to find out or you didn't find out. They were in control and they knew it. They had this power over you like the horrible school master who ruled with an iron fist. They had but not now.
Now I sit in a suspension of disbelief when they have the gall to tell us to wait. No! I'm not going to wait at all. I'm going to turn off the TV and head to my computer. It'll take me all of five seconds to click the bookmark and tada! Now I can see what the weather is. It makes me want to take a selfie with my computer's weather and post it on Twitter @myTVstations and scream, "Guess who isn't waiting?! Screw you @myTVstations!

Netflix and getting tired of the same 'ol thing.
I hope you all had a romantic Valentine's Day. I'd like to say that I did, but I didn't. It's no fault of my own, nor my husband's but we have extenuating circumstances so that is that. Either way, I hope you all did have a fine one indeed!
I'm not alone in saying that Netflix's streaming service isn't what it once was. There were a number of great films and television shows at one time. They even helped you filter out what you never would watch, ever in your life. They ditched that idea (I cannot fathom why) and now they've ditched entertainment too.
For this reason, I cannot find anything good to watch anymore. I've had to resort to Googling what's good on Netflix. It's too bad that there isn't a really good list out there.
I came across one article and because the title isn't dated, I'm assuming that the list will change monthly. To get my point across, I sent it to archive.org. Let me immediately say that I validate my purpose there in saying that because it is a list of pop-culture popular movies at a certain time, it's archive worthy. That said, the list, while valuable due to its commentary on the films folks are watching, it is a terrible one. This is the archive link in case the page changes. This way if next month, if they clear it and rewrite the page, you'll still be able to look at what I was looking at.

Today's Rambles 22 Oct 2012
Most mornings I email my husband with my thoughts on so many things. I thought that maybe others may find it as interesting as he does, or... maybe not. I guess we'll find out.
Here is the list of thoughts of today's news.
Today is an eventful day in history! In 1797, the first parachutist leaped from a balloon 3,200 ft above the ground. The first case of the pandemic 1918 Spanish Flu was reported. In 1932, Pretty Boy Floyd was killed by the G-men. The first Xerox copy was made in 1938. In 1952, the oh-so-cool Jeff Goldblum was born (Johnny Carson's bday is tomorrow too, how cool is that?) and finally in 1962, JFK announced the Cuban Missile Crisis on TV (way before I was born, lol!).
Interestingly enough, the Xerox copy guy's name is Chester Floyd Carlson. Two Floyd history items on the same day and only a few years apart. It must be an Obama conspiracy.
Speaking of which, have you ever seen pictures of Pretty Boy Floyd? He doesn't look anything like I would have expected. He looks like the shy boy next door who is afraid of talking to girls. I'm not sure I get the Pretty Boy nickname though. Today, Pretty Boys are men such as Ian Somerhalder (better known as Somersmolder).
That rat bastard Sam will NOT give the fuck up trying to control Britney Spears' money. http://goo.gl/MBym3 The man needs to be in prison. I am NOT a Britney Spears fan but I hate controlling money hungry people.
Yesterday the Pope named the first Native American a saint. It also was a HER. How 'bout them apples, eh? It's too bad the girl died about 400 years ago. Took them long enough! As much as I hate to say it, this seems politically motivated. Religion should never bend to politics and political correctness. On the other hand, if you want to Christianize as a mission, I suppose you'd have to allow a little leaning into the political arena. Christmas is a good example of that very thing from my ancestors. In any case, I really do love this pope. He needs a No Guts No Glory t-shirt! That man has some b-a-l-l-s! http://goo.gl/XOEBW Yes, I can say that. I'm not Catholic.
Hey, the kid deserved a good 'ol smack. http://goo.gl/PkN7T
National Geographic is auctioning off some very rare photographs that it owns. I wonder why they're doing this now. One is Lee's surrender at Appomattox! They must be hurting for money, which is scary. NG is, in my opinion, the most important public magazine in the world. I don't believe the web can replace their work... At least, not yet anyway. http://goo.gl/YaGii
Well that's it for today. I cannot promise this on a daily basis, but when I do have the time I'll post them.

Should you even bother trying to diet?
Live a healthier you, eat right! That is the health claim that we most often see. We are told that by eating right, we will live longer. Besides the fact that it is a lie, because it only is a probability and no guarantee, it also doesn't tell us the rest of the story.
Let us pretend for a moment that it is true, and that I personally will live to a ripe 90-year-old. Why would I even want to do that? Today I live on a fixed income, I live paycheck to paycheck. There is nothing left after I pay the bills and buy groceries. If I want to eat right, then I need to add a higher percentage to my grocery bill. That much is an absolute fact. Ground beef is considerably cheaper than fish and chicken, as just only one example.
So now that I'm eating what the "experts" believe I should be eating, my funding is even worse. In fact, I may even be in the hole, but let's pretend that I am at least breaking even (however doubtful that would be). How exactly am I supposed to live after 65 then? There is absolutely NO money to put into any retirement. What I have spent on food to make me more healthy, now matters not. I will die of starvation instead.

Foxnews Glitches (NOT news)
Today's complaint stems, sadly, from the only big trustworthy news source. It's not about the articles, but how the site is run.
Foxnews.com is the most difficult pain in the ass, I've just about ever seen. I must again make it clear that I'm not talking about their content or news stories. Liberals hate them for that, but they're narrow minded anyway, so don't count. I'm talking about how many glitches the web site has and all its little "features" that do NOT work.

Why haven't I been writing?
Because I have been playing Sims 2, duh!
I'm not going to be buying Sims 3 either, or not anytime soon. I really have no need. The list of "new features" don't excite me in the least, yet.
I also just ordered University, and am excited because for whatever reason, half the stuff I want nearly always requires University and it ticks me off. I got it at Amazon for about $8 used. Why pay for new when you can get it used for so much cheaper?
I also owe an apology to Mod the Sims. It really is a great site, but it also seriously needs to work on its interface. Yikes that's frustrating!
The Sims Resource (TSR) is okay, but you get users like Cashcraft who have this delusional belief that they can actually copyright things that they make for the game. Uh, no. Only Sims can copyright anything Sims. In fact, they happen to own the entire game, since she missed that newsflash, and THEY are the copyright owners. She actually has no right at all in passing out game modifications. Obviously she thinks a little bit too highly of herself.
Further I have the same thing to say about TSR. What right do they have at all in charging for its use? They really don't. I'll explore all of that later in detail, but MTS is dedicated to free sharing and THAT my friend is what it's all about.
I am a full supporter of open source, and users like Cashcraft are proof of how low society can go sometimes.
